About Us

Beloved Community Services Corporation was founded in 2008. Our mission is “culturally sensitive and culturally relevant community economic development.” Our target areas are zip codes 21217 and 21201. From its early beginnings Beloved Community Services Corporation has grown to over $50 million dollars in assets and a pending $25 million dollars in acquisitions within a five-block radius within the largest historic African American district in America. BCSC is a local provider of United Way family stabilization funds. The program provides funds to families facing poverty and helps them obtain access to housing, healthy and affordable food, healthcare, employment and quality education.

Included in its assets are The Justice Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center, Juanita Jackson Mitchell Law Center, the single-family homes of Clarence and Juanita Mitchell and John Murphy Sr. and Carl Murphy Jr, The Chernock Storage Facility, and The Douglas Memorial Village Apartments.

Programs and initiatives supported by Beloved Community Services Corporation include Robotics Clubs, Girls Who Code, Justice Thurgood Marshall Mixed Media Contest, STEM City USA (www.stemcityusa.com), and The Justice Thurgood Marshall Lecture.

History

BCSC was founded in 2008 with the purpose of serving the Baltimore community by offering resources that transforms lives. Since then BCSC has serviced hundreds of families through its array of transformative resources in the areas of youth development, family stabilization, healthcare, science and research and commercial development of historic landmarks.

Leadership and Initiatives

BCSC is led by Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Alvin C. Hathaway, Sr., a trusted name in Baltimore’s religious, business, and philanthropic community.

BCSC’s board is comprised of seasoned leaders in the areas of business, development, education, finance, and law.
